How to Get Medical Assistant Certification

The health industry is in need of a lot of medical specialist nowadays.  If you are looking for a job that enables you to help other people, then try to become a medical assistant. This profession proves to be very rewarding. For the past few years; many people are making their way in this line of work. So if you are very passionate about having this job, you need to have a medical assistant certification. This will give you more of leverage in landing a job when the right time comes.

So the first thing that you need to do before you get the medical assistant certification is to find the right school for the said profession. Just be sure that the academic institution you are going to enroll to is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). This is important for one of the requirements to take the exam is that you should be a product of their accredited schools or programs. You can also avail online training if you choose to study at home. Again just be sure that it is accredited with the aforementioned agencies above or else you won’t get to take the exam if it isn’t.

After completion of the course, you should pursue the medical assistant certification. For it will provide greater employment possibilities for you. Now it is important for you to recognize the approved organizations that award the certification. The most famous is the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). The exam is available three times a year every January, June and October. Aside from that you are required to pay the examination fee of  $250, however if you have recently graduated so long as it is within the last 12 months, you only have to pay $125. Then after the exam you will have to wait for 45 days before AAMA releases the test results. If you pass they will then give you a list of information on career options for you to be guided in your job hunting.

Your medical assistant certification can open new doors for your career. You can also choose to proceed on another related course after passing the exam if you choose to. For the more training you have the greater the pay. This is also true if you are a certified medical assistant where you get to expect an annual income more or less $40,000.
